05.03.2016 - Blessed

Sorry, it’s been a whole month. In a way, it’s a good thing I haven’t been writing too much because of all the fun I’ve been having. I am thankful for the lives I’ve lived.

April was just really amazing to be honest. I’m not sure if it was my first Coachella halfway through, or that I bought a new car that I’m in love with last week. Or maybe it’s getting back into art that’s bringing my mood up. Or my 157 on my practice LSAT - on 5 hours of sleep and no studying. I also got messaged on LinkedIn for an interview Friday and will have an informational interview with a Marin County prosecutor next week! #humblebrag

It’s probably a culmination of everything, I have many, many things to be grateful for. But I’m more excited about wanting to do more - that I should be pushing to do more. Been meeting a lot of people this month who are not only creative by made the sacrifice of stability to pursue their dreams and so that they love what they do for a living.

It inspired me to get back into drawing. Just this week I went to the MOMA special opening for members and spent an hour sketching out the Biebs. I’ve watched Beyonce’s Lemonade about 3 times now and it’s still as artsy as the first time I laid eyes on the stills. Lemonade reminded me of the aesthetics I am drawn to the most - art nouveau and combining elements of fashion to storytelling and cultural celebration.

Some days, I’m so inspired I want to quit my day job and take a chance on my talent. I know I’m “uncommonly good” but societal pressures have kept me at a regular day job (although I do admit I am still an anomaly from most of my 9-5 friends). But the thing is, it’s not as if I don’t have other passions. If possible, I believe in making a passion a career and another a hobby that could eventually become something more. So for now, I will follow the confines of my 8-3, and devote the rest of my time to creation. Music, radio, photography, writing. And most importantly, art.

I need to remember how I got to be as good as I am and how many more people on this planet are better than me because they’ve worked harder. I have to find my inspiration again.

This year is about change and growing up. Sometimes that means me going back to my roots and celebrating my passions for what they are.

Thank you for all the opportunities and experiences I have been given.

Bless up.
